Health Minister David Parirenyatwa officially opened a clinic in Lutshe, Nkayi, Matabeleland North province, on Wednesday, where he commended the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland for taking an initiative in building the health facility, in an area facing a shortage of clinics.
Nkayi South Member of Parliament, Abednico Bhebhe, told VOA Studio 7 the minister acknowledged that Nkayi has a lower number of clinics compared to other districts in the country, while applauding the role played by the local community in building the clinic.
“The minister said each ward is supposed to have a clinic. We have 30 wards here in Nkayi with only eight clinics, therefore a lot of work still needs to be done,” he said.
Bhebhe said local residents helped through labor, and offering other materials for the building, such as sand.
