Police in Zimbabwe have arrested three members of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), who allegedly kidnapped a Zanu PF activist a week ago.

Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest saying “we are carrying out investigations, and as you know, we are not in a position to give you any further details.”

Nyathi said the CCC members, who allegedly abducted Nicholas Madzianike at Chisedze Business Center, are currently “helping us with investigations”.

Some CCC members claim that the suspects - Chengetanai Musudu, Hakata Musudu and Aaron Chizemo – were allegedly tortured by the police in order to force them to admit that they killed the Zanu PF activist.

CCC deputy spokesperson, Ostallos Siziba, said police are attempting to cover up “acts of terror being committed by the ruling party whose members killed Moreblessing Ali and other CCC supporters.”

He said they have asked a team of lawyers to handle the case. “We are confident that they will do a wonderful job.
