The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) claims that its members were on Wednesday attacked in Seke and Wedza communal lands by suspected Zanu PF activists where Nelson Chamisa was supposed to address supporters.
In a series of tweets, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said, “Zanu PF thugs unleashed violence against our members in Wedza today. They were armed with axes, spears, stones and logs. They mounted illegal road blocks & barricades to block our Change Champion in Chief, @nelsonchamisa from meeting local leaders.
“Violence broke out in Seke today where 3 truckloads of Zanu PF thugs disrupted another meeting that was to be addressed by Change Champion in Chief, @nelsonchamisa. Allan Kunaka & Brighton Chipunga were badly injured. A car was smashed.”
Mahere said the vehicle of CCC member George Makwangwaidze's Mercedes Benz E270 was badly damaged.
She said they have made detailed police reports.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was unreachable for comment as he was not responding to calls on his mobile phone.
