The Zimbabwe Football Association said Thursday it would put off closing Harare's Rufaro Stadium for installation of artificial turf to accommodate the quarter-finals of the Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe Trophy tournament Saturday and Sunday.
The stadium had been scheduled to close on Wednesday, but ZIFA Chief Executive Henrietta Rushwaya, who earlier had been adamant, backtracked on the timing.
Rushwaya told sports reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that pressure from member clubs of the Premier Soccer League to hold the matches at Rufaro obliged the association to reconsider its decision.
