Zimbabwe Cricket Stages Upset to Clinch 1-0 Win Against Bangladesh


The Zimbabwe national cricket team engineered an upset in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Tuesday by defeating its hosts by five wickets in the first of five one-day internationals.

Zimbabwe posted 189 runs for five while Bangladesh scored 186 runs.

Zimbabwe was paced by Elton Chigumbura with 6o runs and Stuart Matsikenyeri's 47 runs to its comfortable five wicket win.

In home action in Mutare, meanwhile, Mountaineers defeated Mid West Rhinos by 10 wickets with 81 balls to spare. In Masvingo, Tuskers beat Rocks by 38 runs.

From Dhaka, cricket commentator Dean du Plessis told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the national side hopes to continue its impressive run against Bangladesh in the second one-day international on Thursday.
