Zimbabwe Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has selected his final squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
This follows his move to split the 32-man squad into two - one for Afcon and the other for Friday's remaining Cosafa Cup's third and fourth playoff match against the Crocodiles of Lesotho.
Chidzambwa on Thursday left with 18 players for the Afcon finals via the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Nigeria where they have a friendly match against the Super Eagles on Saturday evening before leaving for Egypt.
Four players from the Cosafa squad will join the rest of the Afcon team after the completion of the Cosafa Cup fixtures in which Rahman Gumbo and Lloyd Mutasa are in charge of the Warriors.
Chidzambwa has kept faith in most of the players who won him qualification to the Afcon finals with the only new additionals - goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze, midfielder Thabani Kamusoko and China-based Nyasha Mushekwi, who arrived in Nigeria on Thursday.
Familier faces in the Afcon squad - Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiart, Marvelous Nakamba, Tendai Darikwa, Alec Mudimu, George Chigova and Evans Rusike - form part of the team that will fight for the top spot in Group A against Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
Zimbabwe are appearing in the Nations Cup for the fourth time after rubbing shoulders with the best Africa has to offer in 2004, 2006 and 2017.
At the same time, Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action continues despite some teams missing their top players who are with the Zimbabwe Cosafa Cup squad.
