Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) 'interim secretary-general' Sengezo Tshabangu says he has not fired party leader Welshman Ncube but only sought a legal opinion, where he was advised that the term of all those elected through the 2019 party congress has expired.

Tshabangu’s spokesman Khaliphani Phugeni says as a result, the CCC lawyers have advised that the party should hold a congress.

He says Tshabangu will brief the media soon, to explain the next process.

Phugeni tells Studio 7 that Tshabangu and Ncube met and discussed last Friday and last month, the legal issues, which came out on 12 August this year.

However, CCC spokesman Willias Madzimure, spokesman for Ncube’s party, says they are aware of the need for a party congress, but it is not Tshabangu’s mandate to enforce it.

Madzimure denies that Ncube and Tshabangu recently met to discuss the latest developments, saying the party leader only learnt of the legal opinion on expired terms of office last Sunday.
