There was chaos and pandemonium at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on Sunday when a Premier Soccer League match pitting bitter rivals, Highlanders and Dynamos, was abandoned in the 40th minute following a Dembare goal that was disputed by Boss fans.
Various reports and Facebook posts on several soccer platforms, monitored by VOA Studio 7 from Washington DC, indicated that Highlanders fans threw missiles onto the pitch after assistant referee, Thomas Kusosa, ruled as legitimate a goal scored by Dembare striker Christian Epopa, who appeared to be in an offside position.
Highlanders were leading 1-0 before Epopa allegedly came from an offside position to score after the ball bounced from a Bosso player.
Missiles rained on the pitch until match commissioner, Edson Nkau, called off the game. The PSL is expected to make a ruling on the game within the next few days.
Bosso fans clashed with Dynamos supporters during and soon after the game.
