Benjani Mwaruwari, Prophet Magaya, Temba Mliswa and Farai Jere have been removed from the list of contestants for the forthcoming ZIFA presidential elections.

In a statement, the ZIFA Electoral College did not explain why they were axed. VOA Studio 7 could not reach Magaya, Jere and Mwaruwari who did not respond to call made on their mobile phones.

Reacting to being left out of the Zifa election, Mliswa said, "I congratulate those that have made it.There is a process to appeal, there are reasons that must be given to you why you did not make it and all that and as a result, it forms the basis of appeal. it's not over, it's not over."

The Zifa Normalization Committee was unreachable for comment. Those appearing on the list of the ZIFA presidency are Marshall Gore, Philemon Machana, Nqobile Magwizi, Martin Kweza, Twine Phiri and Makwinje Phiri.

The list of candidates released by Zifa also features contestants for the Zifa vice presidency and board members.

They are Mavis Gumbo, Patience Mutumwa, Winnet Murota, Joyce R Kapota, Loveness Mukura, Kennedy Ndebele, Omega Sibanda, Peter Dube, Omega Sibanda Francis Nyamutsamba and Simbarashe J Takava.
