A man calling himself the interim secretary general of the ruling Zanu PF party has recalled 70 Members of Parliament, including the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and some who are cabinet and deputy ministers.

Tafadzwa Manyika has written a letter to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda informing him that Tongai Mnangagwa, Minister Sithembiso Nyoni, Minister Barbara Rwodzi, Minister Juy Moyo and others have ceased to be Zanu PF members and therefore they have been recalled in terms of the laws of Zimbabwe.

Manyika’s letter sent to the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda has a House of Assembly date stamp. Mudenda was unreachable for comment as he was not responding to calls on his mobile phone.

Zanu PF chief whip Pupurai Togarepi said Manyika is an imposter.

Zanu PF Central Committee member Joseph Tshuma also dismissed the letter saying the ruling party has specific structures for all purposes and therefore Manyika is day dreaming.

But Manyika insists that he is a Zanu PF activist and has recalled the 70 legislators.

Promise Mkhwananzi, spokesperson of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change, said they are waiting to see what Mudenda will do as he recalled their MPs recalled by Sengezo Tshabangu without taking into account the wishes of the party.

Responding to inquiries recently about the recalls, Mudenda said his duty is to formalize the recalling of legislators as he has no power to stop such moves by political parties.
