WASHINGTON DC —
The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has suspended its acting boss Allan Chiweshe and current affairs manager Tazzen Mandizvidza on allegations of corruption.
The State broadcaster said Monday the two were implicated in a $7 million fraud involving suspended chief Happison Muchechetere.
But some speculated that the two may have been removed for being sympathetic to the Zanu PF faction allegedly led by Vice President Joice Mujuru.
Chiweshe and Mandizvidza were immediately replaced by Patrick Mavhura and Chris Chivhinge, respectively.
ZBC management and the suspended duo were unavailable for comment.
Lawmaker James Maridadi who seats in the parliamentary committee on media issues told VOA the removal of the two was long overdue.
