WASHINGTON DC —
More than 30 workers at the ethanol producing firm, Green Fuel (Pvt) Limited, have been fired for demanding outstanding salaries.
One of the fired workers, Tichaona Nhambare, says some drivers, operators of combine harvestors and others were sacked recently for demanding their pay.
Nhambare says they decided to go on strike after the company failed to pay them and later cut their monthly salaries from $800 to $400.
He says the fired workers were surprised that instead of being given salaries backdating to October last year, they were told to leave following allegations that they engaged in an illegal industrial action.
Greenfuel (Pvt) limited officials refused to comment.
