Zimbabwe's New Winners junior tennis tournament ended Thursday in Harare on a high note as the organizers announced prizes for the winners donated by international doubles Cara Black.
Referee Lazarus Manjoro told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the donation compensated for frequent rain interruptions.
Cara Black is currently in New Zealand competing in the ASB Classic doubles event with her partner Liezel Huber, looking to collect the US$11,000 top prize for the tournament. Black's career earnings total some US$8.3 million.
Tennis organizers in Harare said Black often returns to Zimbabwe to offer her advice and encouragement to the country's junior development program.
