The piling garbage in Harare has irked not only local residents but also members of the Movement for Democratic Change Renewal Team party as well, who have decided to dump trash at council offices as a way to protest against the local authority’s failure to get rid of the dirty.
Some of its party members were in Glen View on Wednesday after conducting similar exercises in Highfield and Glen Norah suburbs.
Party spokesman Jacob Mafume says they are going to continue doing this until the council considers residents first instead of spending money on cars while service delivery is suffering.
Reached for a comment, mayor Manyenyeni said he was not aware of the MDC Renewal Team’s actions but said if it was true it was a very bad way of seeking attention.
Meanwhile, Buhera South member of parliament Joseph Chinotimba was Wednesday joined by musicians Sulumani Chimbetu and Ba Shupi in sweeping the streets of Harare.
The legislator has been cleaning up some parts of the city on his own in his campaign for a clean Harare.
