Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League newcomers, FC Platinum has acquired some of the top notch players following its promotion to ensure their hopes of clinching the premiership title become a reality.
Affectionately known as the "Kugona Kunenge Kudada boys," the team has acquired players including reigning 2010 Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda, Joel Ngodza, Norman Maroto, former Monomotapa player Daniel Veremu and former Gunners players Tafadzwa Dube and Norman Togara.
Club president Nathan Shoko said his team will play to win in its maiden match against Shooting Stars next week when the season starts. Shoko said press reports that his club had paid the highest signing fees for its players were untrue.
He said his team's strategy was to target players whose contracts had expired to avoid paying huge sums to their clubs. Shoko told VOA Studio 7 reporter Mavellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that he was encouraging fans come out in large numbers to support their team.
