Prolific writer, poet and dramatist Christopher Mlalazi’s star continues to shine.
Mlalazi’s book, Running With Mother, was recently prescribed for students at Lupane State University.
The novel tackles the killings of people in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces during the Gukurahundi era. Thousands of people were killed by the North Korean-trained Five Brigade in the 1980s at the height of political friction between then PF Zapu leader Joshua Nkomo and Prime Minister Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF party.
Mr. Mugabe was once quoted as saying the atrocities were an act of madness.
Mlalazi, who is currently a guest writer in Germany, says he is honored by the Lupane University’s move to use the book for academic purposes.
In 2013 Running With Mother became a prescribed text at the University of Francisco in the United States.
Mlalazi’s other literary works include They are Coming, Dancing With Life, and many more. And being the productive writer that he is, the Bulawayo-born Mlalazi tells Studio 7 he has just released a new poetry collaboration with a german author.
