WASHINGTON DC —
South Africa has issued a deportation warning to all foreigners residing in the country illegally, including Zimbabweans who have failed to regularize their stay.
Speaking Sunday at a media briefing in Pretoria, Home Affairs director general Mkuseli Apleni, said Zimbabweans who failed to acquire residence permits in 2010, or regularize their stay in the country through other means will with effect from October be deported from South Africa.
Studio 7 was unable to reach Apleni for his comment on the pending deportations.
Daniel Muzenda, spokesman of the Zimbabwe Migrants Association, said the warning by South Africa will affect thousands of Zimbabweans.
