Though the cost of antiretroviral drugs has risen since Zimbabwe adopted a multi-hard currency regime in early 2009, those living with HIV at least have more options for acquiring the life-extending pharmaceuticals.
Some are fortunate enough to obtain them free through government programs, or receive financial assistance from family and friends living outside the country. But some must purchase them from pharmacies while meeting the many other costs related to continuing HIV treatment, such as lab tests, drugs for related illnesses and vitamins.
