Another opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist has been killed in Zengeza.

CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, said in a tweet, “We are receiving disturbing reports that Champion Edison Chinembiri of Zengeza Main Branch was murdered by thugs on Tuesday night. We extend our sincere condolences to the Chinembiri family & call on @PoliceZimbabwe to investigate the matter thoroughly. Peace must prevail.”

According to CCC activists, Chinembiri was killed by suspected Zanu PF members amid political tensions in the country following the killing of Moreblessing Ali and Langelihle Zonda Dube.

Police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi, was unavailable for comment as he was not responding to calls on his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Mahere said Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole’s initial remand hearing on charges of inciting violence is expected to continue on Friday.

The two were remanded in custody to tomorrow as the state opposed bail saying Sikhala has a related previous case.

Suspected Zanu PF members recently allegedly killed Moreblessing Ali and Langelihle Dube. Zanu PF has distanced itself from the death of the two CCC activists.
