WASHINGTON - Zimbabweans are weighing in after Episode 3 of the explosive Al Jazeera four-part documentary series exposing alleged corruption in the trade of gold in Zimbabwe and money laundering by gold smugglers who claim they are working with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, including a convicted criminal.

Previous episodes have shown Mnangagwa’s special envoy Eubert Angel and his right hand man, Rikki Doolan, telling undercover journalists they can help them launder millions with the full knowledge of Mnangagwa.

In the latest episode, Al Jazeera focuses on the companies set by alleged key gold smuggler, Kamlesh Pattni, who showcases his glamorous company offices in Dubai, among others. This as Zimbabwe says it is now investigating those implicated. Meanwhile outrage is growing, with the opposition Zapu party calling on Zimbabweans to protest at the church of Angel in South Africa on Friday.

Zimbabwe’s central bank also says it has frozen the assets of four implicated people - Cleopas Chidodo, David Chirozvi, Mehluleli Dube and Fredrick Kunaka. Businessman Aleck Ndlovu says there must be stern consequences for all those involved.

Ndlovu’s sentiments were echoed by another businessman, Bhekimpilo Sithole, who says Al Jazeera has done a great national service exposing to Zimbabweans who is looting their wealth.
