Zimbabwe Women Cricketers Move Closer To 2009 World Cup Berth

Zimbabwe’s womens cricket team returned to Harare this week from qualification play for the Women's International Cricket World Cup in Australia in 2009 having secured a place in the second round of qualifying matches to be held in Pakistan in 2007.

The Zimbabwe women's squad had an unbeaten run, winning all three of its matches in the qualifying round ended Sunday in Nairobi. The team got back to Harare Monday and along with South Africa is headed for the next round in Pakistan next year.

Reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe asked media representative Blessing Maulgue of Zimbabwe Cricket for his perspective on the women's team's feat in Nairobi and its prospects in subsequent rounds.
