The General Agriculture and Plantation Workers Union of Zimbabwe said is proposing a minimum monthly wage for its members of over Z$2 million (US$12) which would mitigate the impact of hyper-inflation in line with a proposed national social contract.
The union rejected an offer from farm employers of Z$96,000 (US$0.60) a month.
Agricultural workers union official James Goneso said negotiations have been hampered by the unwillingness of small farmers to meet for discussions.
Farmer and agronomist Roger Mpande told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that hyperinflation makes it difficult to set viable prices or wages.
