Zimbabwe Football Association To Take Charge Of Player Passports

Embarrassed by the deportation from Singapore last week of Zimbabwean midfielder Ramson Zhuwawo, the Zimbabwe Football Association says it will work closely with the Premier Soccer League to secure passports for all PSL players.

Singapore immigration authorities deported Zhuwawo back to Zimbabwe because he was unable to present a passport while in transit there. He was headed for Malaysia's Merdeka tournament, but his emergency travel document did not pass muster.

ZIFA Chief Executive Henrietta Rushwaya told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the incident was a wake up call for her association, which is taking steps to avoid such problems in future.
