Civil Servants Threaten To Strike

Zimbabwe's civil servants have threatened to go on strike next week unless the government reconsiders the modest salary increase it put on the table this week.

The government on Thursday offered state employees a pay increase averaging US$56 a month taking wages for many barely over US$200, a rise that union leaders and others represenging public employees described as paltry.

Reporter Brenda Moyo speaks to Chief executive officer.Sifiso Ndlovu of the Zimbabwe Teachers Association, who says before taking the industrial action route, public workers will first try to engage the three principals in the unity government.
