Dynamos Football Club have fired under-performing coach Jorge Paulo Silva.

Club coach Kenny Mubaiwa VOA Studio 7 that they have parted ways with the Portuguese coach, who was hired early this year, following a string of loses in the local Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

“We had a meeting with the coach this afternoon (Thursday) at 4pm where we decided to terminate his contract. According to his contract there is no clause that indicates that we will pay him anything if we terminate his contract,” said Mubaiwa.

He said Lloyd Mutasa will be the interim coach. He dismissed suggestions that the club should have hired a local coach instead of a foreign mentor. “How many coaches do we have here in Zimbabwe? Which coaches are they talking about? We have tried and tested them and no one can come and say why didn’t you appoint so and so. Who is he (the person) we can appoint today looking at the coaches we have here? Some of them are employed by other clubs and those that are not employed cannot qualify to coach Dynamos. So, we cannot appoint a coach because he is a coach. No.”

He assured club supporters that Dynamos is set to bounce back.

Dynamos are placed fourth from the bottom in the 16-club league log of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer league as a result of poor performances since the start of the soccer season this year.
