The relaunched Inxusa Festival was suspended in 1999 due to Zimbabwe's economic hardships
WASHINGTON —
Organizers of Inxusa Festival which began Tuesday this week at Amakhosi Cultural Center in Bulawayo say the celebrations ended on a high note Friday evening, with performers from state universities and colleges around the country and African region, showcasing their skills in various performances.
The festival ran under the theme “Merging Cultures.”
Amakhosi Cultural Center director Cont Mhlanga says the occasion, which was suspended in 1999 due to economic hardships and re-launched Tuesday, was graced by Deputy Information Minister Supa Mandiwanzira and various artists.
Mhlanga said he raised the issue of prioritizing local content in the country, licensing, and the need to address marginalization of artists from the Bulawayo and Matabeleland regions.
