State Workers Meet Civil Service Commission Chairman Nzuwah

WASHINGTON DC —  State workers' representatives met in Harare on Wednesday with Civil Service Commission chairman Mariyawanda Nzuwah to discuss the re-alignment of their operations with the new constitution and their working conditions.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe's general secretary Raymond Majongwe said although they agreed not to divulge the outcome of the meeting, they discussed, among other issues, the future of the Apex Council and collective bargaining.

Chief executive officer Sifiso Ndlovu of the Zimbabwe Teachers Association said Nzuwah told the union leaders that his commission was now the one responsible for employing civil servants.

The meeting was as a result of a request by the civil servants to have a platform with the commission on the future of their umbrella body, the Apex Council, and other issues following the adoption of the new constitution and the coming in of a new minister Nicholas Goche.

The new constitution does not provide for the Apex Council and the National Joint Negotiating Council.
