MDC-T to Hold Policy Conference, Draft Election Manifesto

WASHINGTON DC —  The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formation led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai will this week hold a three-day policy conference expected to come up with the party’s election manifesto and what it will do for Zimbabwe in its first 100 days in office if it wins elections expected to be called sometime this year.

The conference will be held under the theme “Towards Real Transformation”.

Spokesman Douglas Mwonzora told VOA Studio 7 topics such as job creation, infrastructure development, education and social service delivery, are among issues that will be discussed.

Mr. Tsvangirai is expected to deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for the conference.

Mr. Mwonzora said among those invited to the conference are local civil society groups, diplomats and some foreign political organisations.

But Zanu PF deputy director of information, Psychology Maziwisa dismisses the MDC T policy conference saying their policies will never work in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is expected to hold crucial polls this year which will end a shaky government formed by two MDC formations and President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party a few years ago.
