The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is hotting up with any of the four leading teams with a chance of taking up the leadership in week 11 of the programme.
First it was FC Platinum, then it was ZPC Kariba and later Caps United and now it is Highlanders but there is no guarantee that Bosso will hang onto that position for longer.
What is interesting is that leaders Highlanders have a date against third placed ZPC Kariba at Barbourfields Stadium and the team that falls also falls from its position on the table.
Katuruturu have the power of surprise and did the unexpected when they travelled to Mandava Stadium and overcame then leaders FC Platinum but against a steamrolling Highlanders sports follower Farai Kambamura thinks that power of surprise is out of bounds.
“Highlanders so far, the machine is well oiled. Highlanders are not an easy team to beat at Barbourfields Stadium and I think, they will sail through,” said Kambamura.
Even Dynamos supporter Tinashe Gwasira thinks Highlanders are on roll saying looking at what they have done so far, should take the three points of Sunday Chidzambwa’s Kariba based side.
“I tip Highlanders to win. They are playing competitive football. Last week they won, and in midweek they won I think, they are far much the better team,” said Gwasira.
Highlanders shot to the top overtaking Caps United after they overcome Borders Strikers 2-0 in a game that should have played earlier in the season.
However, should Highlanders let it slip against ZPC Kariba, Caps United have the chance to reclaim top position as they have what looks like an easy home fixture against Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium Sunday.
After a week’s rest, FC Platinum are back in action and this time at home to bogey side Triangle at Mandava Stadium tomorrow.
Games between the two Midlands sides usually create sparks and are hard to predict. One day it is the Sugar Sugar Boys and the other it is Kugona Kunenge Kudada.
Now in fourth place having been at the top of the standings, coach Norman Mapeza is not worried about his current standings.
He says he would rather prefer his team to move from the ground upwards to the summit of the table.
“In life, you would rather start walking without shoes. If you start wearing shoes early, you are going to suffer when you are growing up.
I would rather walk with my feet and the wear my shoes when I am 20,”
said Mapeza.
In Harare, a motuwatering clash is on the cards as onfire Harare City entertain a rejuvenated Dynamos in game many in the city have been waiting for.
Both teams are on a roll with the Sunshine City Boys unbeaten in the two games that Moses Chunga has been in charge while Dynamos have picked up nine points in five games.
However, Kambamura says Chunga’s honeymoon is coming to an end against the same team that gave him fame as a player and coach.
“Moses Chunga is a very good and respectable coach, and well travelled also. But I think his unbeaten run is going to come to an end against Dynamos,” said Kambamura.
Harare City are in sixth position with 15 points and Dynamos are in eighth position with 14 points and Dynamos assistant coach Murape Murape says it is time they start beating teams at the top of them.
“For us to go back to the top, we need to beat the teams which are on top of us,” said Murape Murape.
