Clinton, Trump Cast Their Votes In Hopes Of Becoming 45th US President
The candidates and their spouses headed to their local polling stations in New York state and joined the general public to have their say in who they want to run the country for the next four years.
Meanwhile, citizens who had already cast their votes gathered at the grave of suffragette Susan B Anthony in Rochester, New York to mark the historic moment.
Elsewhere, Bangladeshi Muslim Americans recorded their votes for President at polling stations in the borough of Queens.
In Nevada, in front of a banner bearing the word 'Kindness' a voter was getting ready to cast her vote.
And in Belhaven, North Carolina, 100-year-old Grace Bell Hardison, who made the headlines when she was mentioned by President Barack Obama after attempts were made to purge from the voter registration list, cast her vote accompanied by her nephew, Greg Satterthwaite.
