Zanu PF Probes Baba Jukwa Moles

Zanu PF is reported to be probing its officials suspected of links to the faceless Facebook character Baba Jukwa who has challenged the party to provide proof that he has been unmasked.

The Herald newspaper reports that Zanu PF secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa, said it was imperative that the party launch a probe to weed out those who might have leaked classified information to Baba Jukwa.

“It is necessary and essential to discuss the matter as a party and investigate what could have happened … But we have to get detailed information of what was happening because what we only have is from the media,” said Mutasa.

Internet news source Newzimbabwe.com published documents it claimed were provided by unnamed hackers who went into Baba Jukwa’s account revealing that he was actually a Zimbabwean journalist, Mxolisi Ncube.

Ncube, and a colleague, Mkhululi Chimoio, identified as Sahwira Wababa Jukwa, another internet troll, have denied this and are suing the publication.

The pair’s lawyer Obert Gutu dismissed the e-mails linking them to Baba Jukwa saying they were fake.

A computer expert told Studio 7 there were serious doubts that the emails were a result of a hack but appeared to be concocted.

The denial by the two and the continued postings of Baba Jukwa on Facebook has reportedly led to some in Zanu PF to believe that the alleged unmasking could have been a party inside job to divert attention from the real culprits.

Fingers are pointing at all directions, said a source.

However, Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo told Studio 7 that even though they know that there were some officials who colluded with Baba Jukwa they were not going to let that divert their attention from trying to put the economy back on track.
