Zimbabwe Church Leaders, Politicians Gather to Examine Framework for Peace

Zimbabwean church leaders, government ministers and political party representatives gathered on Wednesday in the northern resort town of Kariba on Lake Zambezi to discuss the national healing process and the general political environment in a conference organized by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches.

Co-Minister for National Healing Sekai Holland and Constitutional Affairs Minister Eric Matinenga spoke to the healing process and the ongoing revision of the national constitution, respectively.

Industry Minister Welshman Ncube represented the Movement for Democratic Change formation of Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara and Fidelis Mhashu Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's MDC wing. Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa represented the ZANU-PF party of President Robert Mugabe.

Co-Minister for National Healing and Reconciliation Sekai Holland told VOA Studio 7 reporter Jonga Kandemiiri that church leaders wanted an update on the country's peace-building framework from the officials involved.
