The board chairperson of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, Dewa Mavhinga, says the democracy lobby group maintains its decision not to renew the contract of its director McDonald Lewanika when it expires at the end of this year.
Mavhinga said this follows an adverse audit report that implicated Lewanika in the misuse of the organization’s funds, among other issues.
For his part, Lewanika was quoted by Nehanda Radio as saying he was organizing a special general meeting of the organization’s membership with a view to overturn the board’s decision.
But Mavhinga said that meeting, set for sometime this month, is not sanctioned hence its outcome would be null and void.
Lewanika was not available for comment as his mobile phone was not reachable.
