Zimbabwe's Kiglon Football Club Moots PSL Withdrawal, Citing Costs

Kiglon managers say prohibitive costs will force the team to drop out of the Premier Soccer League schedule if it does not receive funding from corporate sponsors through league mechanisms

Zimbabwe's Kiglon Football Club says it may not play in the Premier Soccer League in the upcoming season if the PSL can't line up sponsorships.

Promoted into the PSL two years ago from Division One, Kiglon managers say prohibitive costs will force the team to drop out of the PSL schedule if there is no funding coming from the league through corporate sponsors.

Kiglon Chief Executive Thompson Dombo told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye his club needs around US$250,000 to finance the upcoming season. He said the club's management will come to a final decision in the matter after meeting PSL officials later this month.
