Observers say President Robert Mugabe is no longer in a position to effectively lead Zimbabwe and turn around the ailing economy due to his advanced age.
One of the observers, political analyst Doctor Alex Magaisa of Kent University in Britain, said the president’s public speech errors – including his unexpected denunciation of his own party at the just-ended 6th congress - are an indication that he’s no longer politically astute.
His views were echoed by independent political commentator George Mkwananzi, who added that it is unfortunate that President Mugabe is likely to contest the 2018 presidential election at the age of 94.
Magaisa said this does not give a good impression of a person, who was once regarded as a liberation icon to some Zimbabweans.
