There are fears that most people will boycott the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Zimbabwe.
Observers say the majority of Zimbabweans are busy trying to eke out a living at a time when most industries have shutdown due to lack of capital to revive them, insignificant foreign direct investment and related issues.
Local resident and development activist, Dumisani Mpofu, told VOA Studio 7 the situation is worrying ahead of the by-election set to fill parliamentary seats left vacant following the recalling of Movement for Democratic Change Renewal Team lawmakers by Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC.

His sentiments were echoed by several other people, who noted that the by-elections were a waste of time and state funds.
But Zanu PF Central Committee member, David Ndlovu, said polling numbers don’t matter in these elections.
