Democracy Advocates, Top Musicians Release Peace Album

Zimbabwe

A local civil society organization, Artists for Democracy in Zimbabwe Trust (ADZT), has teamed up with top musicians in the country to produce a four-track music album on peace under its peace building project dubbed ‘Zimbabwe Peace Caravan’.

Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Chiwoniso Maraire and Edit Katiji produced the album, Moyo Munyoro, which ADZT director Stanley Kwenda said will be distributed free throughout the country.

Kwenda said the Zimbabwe Peace Caravan is part of his organisation’s contribution to peace building in the country.

He is optimistic the project, together with other efforts by politicians, independent groups and government departments such as the Organ of National Healing Reconciliation, will help bring everlasting peace in the country.

Sungura musician, Suluman Chimbetu, said he is humbled to be part of the project and will preach peace at all his live shows.

The album has four tracks - Peace, Our Peace Runyararo and the title track Moyo Munyoro - which denounce violence and call for unity and peace.

It was officially launched in Domboshava in Mashonaland East where villagers commended the efforts to promote peace by ADZT and the musicians.
