An array of South Africa high profile football greats will be in Harare on Friday.

According to documents made available to Studio 7, former Leeds United striker Phil Masinga and Orlando Pirates superstar Jerry Sikhosana are among the high profile South African legends billed to feature in a game to launch the Zimbabwe Football Legends Trust on Saturday.

The game was supposed to have been played long back but was called off as it coincided with the African Nations Championship qualifier between Zimbabwe’s Warriors and Zambia’s Chipolopolo at the same venue but Zimbabwe Football Legends Trust secretary general Eric Aisam says all is set for the ball to roll.

The Football Legends Trust is aimed at raising funds for former Zimbabwean footballers most of whom are living in abject poverty with some going to the extent that there is no money to bury them after death.

Aisam says they cannot raise and donate funds to the players but would rather set up projects in which the struggling former footballers would be involved to get their lives on track.

The former Dynamos and Dairibord winger says most of the South African legends are coming.

Aisam says efforts are still underway to have South Africa-based Peter Ndlovu in Harare for the game, adding that Moses Chunga has already declared his availability.

Whatever is the case, says Aisam, they have a strong team capable of challenging the South Africans.

The Zimbabwe Football Legends Trust has the backing of the Zimbabwe Football Association. What is now left is for those involved to set it in motion.
