The composer of one of Zimbabwe’s most popular songs – Meet me in Zimbabwe – has died.

Bajabulila Ndlovu Zikalala, the wife of musician Themba Ndlovu, succumbed to kidney failure on Tuesday in Johannesburg after struggling for many years with diabetes.

Themba Ndlovu told VOA Studio 7 that his family is devastated by the death of his wife.
He said, “I wonder how life is going to be after this? I will always love you my dear. I will miss you Bajabulile.”

A few days ago, Ndlovu posted a message on Facebook which reads in part, “A phone call from Bajabulile Ndlovu-Zikalala in Chemnitz Strasse, Hamburg-Altona, to me in Hamburg-Eppendorf, way back in 1983. I have a song dear, ‘Meet Me in Zimbabwe, Sohlangan' eZimbabwe!’. Little did I know that 30 years later people would still be singing this song. Thank you MaZikalala, nakaboMaGatsheni, eMoyo baba.”
