United States artistes Toni Braxton arrived in Harare on Monday for a long-awaited show billed for Friday night at the Borrowdale Race Course.
Show promoter Benie Bismark of BD Music told Studio 7preparations for the show are at an advanced stage.
Tickets are ranging from $40 to $150 for the VIP section. Award-winning Braxton is travelling with her sisters, Trina and Towanda.
Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, who will perform with Braxton, is expected Thursday.
"We are hopeful the show will be a success, we have already started selling tickets and sales have been good but we are urging all Zimbabweans not to miss the opportunity to watch these gramma winners play in our own backyard," said Bismark.
She hoped the locals will show the visitors the warmth and love Zimbabweans have always been known to have.
Bismark said she’s positive the show will be sold out even as the majority of Zimbabweans struggle with the realities of day to day living.
"We always band together as Zimbabweans and we are sure we will see a huge turnout Friday, we urge those that have not yet bought their ticket to do so early so that they can avoid disappointment," said Bismark.
The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe says it has cleared the U.S. artistes to performance in Harare and are hopeful that this show will be successful.
"We cleared Toni Braxton's show and we encourage such shows as they give opportunities to both our local artistes and international ones to exchange ideas and make contacts for future business," said Catherine Mthombeni, spokesperson of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.
Braxton is expected to perform at other shows in South Africa after leaving Zimbabwe.
