With Zimbabwe heading for elections July 31, women this year are celebrating a constitutional provision giving them 60 parliamentary seats through a proportional representation system.
But this has caused a problem as some women have opted for the safer option of getting onto their party lists for the proportional representation system than contesting in constituencies.
The issue of resources to fund campaigns remains an issue. VOA Studio 7’s Sandra Nyaira speaks with women’s rights activist Sally Dura, who was recently in the USA to learn about women’s campaigns.
She says benefits from her Yale University training are beginning to bear fruit on the ground as the country heads for crucial elections.
