Sizwile Nyamande, who is currently based at Arizona State University, says she is excited to be in the United States and feels honoured to have been given the opportunity to develop her skills.
Born on August the 4th, Nyamande says she shares the same birthday with President Barack Obama and will be in Washington for a town hall meeting that will be held on that same day which is making her feel extra special.
“I have the greatest birthday present ever this year, not only do I share the same birthday as President Obama but I get to meet him at a town hall meeting that will be held in Washington on that same day," says Nyamande.
She says that will be the highlight of her visit because she never thought a girl born in rural Victoria Falls would one day get a chance to meet with the president of the United States and gain knowledge to enhance her skills back home.
She says indications are that if you dream big enough you can achieve anything in life despite your personal circumstances.
In Zimbabwe, Nyamande works with schools in Hwange District on an environmental project, where she is trying to improve science education in rural schools, especially for the girl child.
She is also hoping to establish a Resource Centre for Better Schools Programme in Zimbabwe Cluster in her community.
Nyamande says the sky is the limit and anyone can achieve their dreams by not letting their circumstances define them.
