President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, described the 2016 Olympic games in Brazil as "iconic" referring in part to the calibre of athletes such as U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps and Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt, who won multiple gold medals.
